Does your dog’s astrological sign really tell you anything about him? Astrologer Rita Hogan maintains that it does. She says that the stars can tell you what your dog’s personality is, and that by following the stars, you can learn more about your dog. I’m not so sure that there are just twelve dog personalities, based on their astrological sign, but then I’m just a know-it-all (LOL!) not an astrologist, so let’s take a look at your dog’s star signs. Is your dog a Leo? A Pisces? How does your dog’s personality line up with their star sign? Keep reading. You might find that your dog is very much in line with his astrological profile, or you might find that he’s not even close. It’s all in good fun, though!
Aries (March 21 – April 20)
Aries is the god of war, which means confidence and strength. Aries dogs are very dominant, confident and strong. You may have trouble training an Aries dog, because he wants to be the boss. Aries dogs are highly intelligent, curious, and self-assured. An Aries dog will be very protective.
Taurus (April 21 – May 20)
Taurus dogs are calm and loving. They don’t like loud noises, and they are easily stressed. Taurus dogs love to cuddle, and have a great need to feel safe. They can be fearful of loud noises like thunderstorms. Taurus dogs can also be obstinate, and need training to be good canine citizens.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Gemini dogs are highly intelligent. Because they are born under the sign of the twins, they can be both passive and aggressive, friendly and reserved. They learn quickly. They are very sociable, learn quickly, and are very active. They are not “one-person dogs” – they love everyone.
Cancer (June 21 -July 20)
Cancer dogs are very sweet-natured and loving. They need reassurance, though, and do not respond well to strangers. They are typically “one person” dogs. They will bond hard and fast to one person, and protect that person with all their heart and soul. Cancer dogs love to cuddle!
Leo (July 21 – August 20)
Leo dogs are very energetic, and very protective. They also love attention, and you can usually assume that they will be the ones who attract the most attention at the dog park. They will respond well to anyone who makes a fuss over them. Leo dogs are also extremely loyal.
Virgo (August 21 – September 20)
Virgo dogs are very calm and intelligent. They are not easily stressed. They thrive on routine – regular walks are a good thing for Virgo dogs. A Virgo dog will happily do whatever you want him to do, and needs little training.
Libra (September 21 – October 20)
Libra dogs can be a little bit hyperactive, and might be a bit hard to train. They need structure and discipline, and can have short attention spans. That said, they are usually sensible and calm.
Scorpio (October 21 – November 20)
Scorpio dogs are very strong-willed. They require a lot of exercise. A Scorpio dog will usually try to dominate you, so you will have to let him know that you are the alpha. Scorpio dogs are very sociable.
Sagittarius (November 21 – December 20)
Sagittarius dogs are very outgoing, and tend to be “one person” dogs. They are very loyal, and always want to be with you. They are happiest when there is another dog in the household.
Capricorn (December 21 – January 20)
Capricorn dogs are happiest when they are the only dog in the house. They will get used to other dogs, but you might have to work a bit on socialization. They are very active, and easily stressed. Capricorn dogs are best suited to households where they can be with people most of the time, so if you are out of the house at work for most of the day, a Capricorn dog may not be your best choice.
Aquarius (January 21 – February 20)
Aquarius dogs can be difficult. They are very loving, but they are stubborn. They do best with other dogs in the household. They also get along well with other species, so if you have a cat and you are thinking about getting a dog, an Aquarian dog could be the best choice.
Pisces (February 20 – March 20)
Pisces dogs are very sweet-natured, but easily stressed. Sometimes, if a Pisces dog is in a household with another dog, he could end up being bullied. Pisces dogs are easily trained and very cooperative.

Conclusion
Realistically, no one really knows if the stars have anything to tell us, or if horoscopes are just good fun. And I certainly wouldn’t advocate choosing a dog based on his star sign. There are better ways to find the perfect dog for you – for more on this, read How to Get the Right Dog From the Right Breeder.
I love mythology and folklore, though – in fact, I even know someone who attached a crucifix to her dog’s collar to protect him from vampires!I read my horoscope every day, just for the fun of it, and I don’t see any harm in people thinking about what their dogs’ star signs might have to tell them.
